WWII Memorial, visitors ●

Architectural folks criticized the memorial for harkening back to the spare neoclassical style that was favored by the axis dictators during the war years. It seems an odd style choice, but stylistics aside, a bigger issue is that the project lacks inspiration. It certainly doesn’t have the “think outside the box” brilliance of the nearby Vietnam memorial. But all design considerations aside, the many spritzing fountains around the pool make it a great place to hang out during the summer heat.
