Labor of Love

I’ve seen the progress of this hand-built wooden hulled lobster boat over the last 7 years of its construction by boat builder, ship’s captain, lobsterman, and a good friend who has lived his life along the rugged Maine coast. This boat, called the Dolphin, is for his daughter. He wanted her to have a wooden hulled vessel because it’s better at absorbing the sea’s pitch than a steel hull. “The only reason I still have a healthy back after 50 years on the sea is a wooden hull.”
