Capitol Hill Birdseye

A 3-D rendition of Capitol Hill, Washington DC
The drawing is carried out in the tradition of the great maps of the European capitals and captures the overall character of this unique neighborhood. I spent weeks canvasing the area with a sketchbook making sketches and notes on each block, and months at the drafting board producing the finished product. Represented are typical building styles and their various roof types, unique buildings, parks and plazas, and the ingenious pattern of grided and diagonal streets that contribute to the stunning views one gets while strolling the streets of Capitol Hill. This drawing is included in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress.
