My education as an architect has imbued me with a passion for buildings and places. That passion has become a point of reference for my artwork. My goal is to suggest these built forms with clear and simple brushwork. Watercolor is a natural fit for this task; with broad washes of color defining masses, and a few carefully placed brush marks to conjure up select details.

I want to present a view of the world around me as a positive and exciting experience for viewers. I hope this experience becomes an escape from the dullness of ordinary life and a refuge from the constant stream of unpleasant news in the media. So I don’t attempt to make political statements or argue a point of view with my work. Instead I imagine a subject as I would like it to be, interpreting the world into an idealized language of paint and paper. I want to reveal the extraordinary magic of ordinary life

I grew up in the Delaware Valley in Western New Jersey. I went to art school and earned a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts. After graduation I worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. Inspired by a passion for buildings and cities, I went on to earn a Masters of Architecture. After a few years working as an architect, I returned to doing artwork with a new vision as a result of my experience. I have been living in Washington DC and working full time as a professional artist for the last 21 years
