Thomas Bucci and Miche Booz designed the Sandy Spring Museum. The result of a 1994 design competition, the building was dedicated in September 1997. It received the following recognition:
- Potomac Valley American Institute of Architects — Honor Award
- Maryland American Institute of Architects — Merit Award
- Preservation Montgomery County — Best new building in an historical area
Located due north of Washington, DC, Sandy Spring Museum preserves the history of this area of Maryland from early settler days through the early 20th Century.
